PHN FOSTERS EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING TO TACKLE RETENTION

Sharon, PAFollowing the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Workforce Well-Being Survey, the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC) reached out to Primary Health Network (PHN) to discuss how PHN has effectively navigated the challenges of rising wages and provider burnout as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The virtual presentation took place on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, providing organizations with valuable insights into PHN’s approach to enhancing staff benefits and implementing strategies for improving workforce well-being.

Jessie Miller, PHN’s Director of Human Resources, presented “Adopting Compensation and Benefits for Workforce Well-Being.” Miller detailed the implementation of innovative benefits designed to reduce burnout and turnover among providers and staff, including a comprehensive compensation program that addresses the diverse needs of the workforce.

To address burnout, Primary Health Network offers its provider staff the option to provide care via telehealth two days a week, which supports Family Medicine and contributes to increased workforce well-being and reduced turnover. Additionally, PHN provides a wide range of benefits to all staff, including time off for volunteer activities, reimbursement for gym memberships, and a robust compensation program.

Miller stated, "It was an honor to represent Primary Health Network and showcase how we are creating a workplace focused on well-being with comprehensive benefits. I am proud to work at PHN, and it was a privilege to collaborate with the Association for Clinicians for the Underserved on this presentation."
