Riverside Park

The 89 acre park sits on the banks of the Upper Shenango River Water Trail with paved roadways for walking, running and biking. Several picnic pavilions are located throughout the park along with a softball field, playground, disc golf course, and newly renovated amphitheater. The park has a nature trail that leads through the woods and connects with the Shenango River Bike Trail. Carried Away Outfitters has a launch site with canoe, kayak and bike rentals. Pavilion and amphitheater rentals are available by calling the Town office, (724) 588-4193.
Hempfield Township Municipal Park

The Hempfield Park offers a number of covered picnic pavilions, some of which are tucked in under mature trees, as well as a modern
playground enclosed by a fence. The park was built after the township purchased 135-acres of farmland at the intersection of Saint Glory and Fredonia roads in May 1969. Pavilions in the park are available and can be reserved by calling the Hempfield Township office at (724) 588-5032.
Kidds Mill Covered Bridge Park

Built in 1868 and restored in 1990, Kidd’s Mill is the last covered bridge in Mercer County, and the only remaining bridge in PA with an all-wood truss design. The 120 foot long bridge is open to picnickers, hikers and bicyclists and is part of the 8-mile Shenango Trail.

The 1,860 acre Lake Wilhelm is located in Goddard State Park near Sandy Lake, PA. There is a 241-slip marina and a 48-space dry land mooring area (20 hp limit). Boats, rowboats, pontoon boats, paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes can be rented at the marina area. Lake Wilhelm is a warm-water fishery including bass, walleye, pike bluegill and crappie. A 12 mile paved hiking/biking trail follows the shoreline of the lake. The trail is also open in the winter for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
Pymatuning State Park

The park was dedicated in 1934 and built to regulate the water flow into the Shenango and Beaver Rivers. With a 17,088 acre reservoir, Pymatuning Lake is the state’s largest man-made lake. The park has boating, fishing, swimming, camping, and picnic areas available. Don’t forget to stop and feed the fish at the Spillway where the ducks walk on the fish!

The 3,560 acre river lake was part of the Flood Control Act of 1938; with the dam was completed in 1965, it provides flood protection for the Shenango River Valley, as well as for the Beaver and upper Ohio Rivers. A variety of recreational activities exist including camping, boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, water skiing, or jet skiing. The dam’s outflow area is a popular spot for enthusiastic anglers. Located at the lake is a trail for off-road vehicles or for hiking. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the area and hosted its first Eagle Fest in 2021. North Star Marina at the Clark Recreation Area is open to service all boating needs including kayak and pontoon rentals, fuel, repairs, and refreshments.
Trails
Upper Shenango River Water Trail
Provides up to 23 miles of easy paddling in scenic northwestern PA. Starting at Pymatuning State Park and running through the towns of Jamestown and Greenville, the trail ends at the Army Corps. of Engineers facility at Shenango River Lake. Numerous take out/launch sites provide convenient points to match diverse interests.
Shenango River Trail
Enjoy comfortable walking, biking or running on the 1.3 miles that are completed of the planned 10.5-mile trail. This trail is made of crushed limestone, and part of the trail travels around Riverside Park. The trail starts at Main Street in Greenville and ends at Porter Road on PA Rt. 58.

Local History
Greenville Commercial Historic District was registered in 2000 on the National Register of Historical Places. The district includes 48 contributing buildings in the central business district of Greenville. The majority of the contributing buildings were built after major fires in 1871 and 1873, and are largely brick with Italianate style design influences. Notable buildings include the U.S Post Office (1938), Bessemer Depot (1905), Lake Erie Railroad Depot, Packard Commercial Building (1857-1858), Livingston Morrison Building, Masonic Block, Mathers Building (1873), and the Art Deco style N.N. The Alliance is an umbrella organization to coordinate shared activities for the benefit of the three museums. The museums each operate independently.
The Waugh House recreates life in Western Pennsylvania during the canal and railroad eras and highlights the growth of modern industry. The Waugh House is the first brick building erected in Greenville. Each year the board members redesign the displays, so there is always something new to see! Official Cat’s Meow Village retailer. Greenville Railroad Park & Museum
This park boasts the largest steam switch engine ever built, a coal tender, an ore arm and a caboose. The museum area houses railroad memorabilia, including a reconstruction of a stationmaster's quarters and dispatcher's office. Open Saturdays and Sundays 1-5 pm May, Sept. & Oct. and 1-5pm Tuesdays and Sundays June, July & August.
