Friends of the Manor Ghost Stories and Tour at the Gibson House Manor Saturday and next Friday
The Gibson House Manor in Jamestown, PA was built on 1856, just five years before the beginning of the Civil War. Like many medical doctors across Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York, Dr Gibson and his wife, Susan were staunch believers in caring for the sick, regardless of color or creed, political persuasion or gender.
Because their home was also designed and built as an Underground Railroad safe house, we believe they, as a deeply religious family and Abolitionists, treated runaway slaves who were sick, dying, with broken limbs, infection and animal bites. After the Civil War, an accident at the Manor marked our house permanently because of the tragedy.
A young bride was invited to stay with the Gibsons and was being brought to the church by horse and carriage the morning of her wedding. She never made it to the church or her future husband. A storm rolled through Jamestown while she was boarding the buggy, spooking the horses. They reared, twisting the carriage over and throwing the young bride onto the road. Sadly, the carriage then rolled over her, killing her instantly. Dr Gibson couldn’t save her.
Her name was Victoria.
Come to the Gibson House Manor on Saturday, October 21st or Friday, October 27th when we turn out all the lights in the Manor and take you on a candlelight tour of the Gibson House while sharing the many verified incidents involving sightings of Victoria, Victoria pranks and runaway slave incidents over the years including the numerous incidents shared by the cast and crew of SPOOKT, the horror movie filmed in part at the Manor by Greenville native Tony Reames and his team.
The US premiere of the movie was at the Reynolds Drive In just a few weeks ago. Paranormal enthusiast Vanessa Wright (one of the SPOOKT producers) recorded the energy from three spots in the house with strong paranormal activity while they were filming. Your tour will take you through the entire house where sightings have been documented. Details: Gibson House Manor, 210 Liberty Street Jamestown PA 16134. Tickets $10, $8 for students and seniors.
