MERCER COUNTY FOOD BANK CALLS ON THE COMMUNITY TO JOIN TOGETHER IN ENDING HUNGER
September is Hunger Action Month and Feeding America is encouraging one million actions across the country to end hunger. During the month-long campaign, Mercer County Food Bank will be raising awareness and inspiring action throughout the county and every action counts. Whether it’s donating, advocating, volunteering or spreading the word online, YOU can make a difference.
“We can end hunger in the U.S. when we decide to work together with coordinated action and a shared belief that everyone deserves fresh, nutritious food,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “This year during Hunger Action Month, we are encouraging everyone to take action. Raise your voice. Volunteer. Donate. Our individual actions may seem small, but together they become a powerful movement that can change history.”
The USDA estimates 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 children experienced food insecurity in 2022. In Mercer County, more than 15,000 neighbors, including more than 4,300 children are food insecure, meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from.
Join the movement in Mercer County and take action during September by contacting Patty Tucker ptucker@mercercountyfoodbank.org or 724-981-0353 ext. 103

“MCFB needs community support year-round, but especially during Hunger Action Month,” said Rebecca Page, Executive Director, Mercer County Food Bank. “More than 12,000 neighbors each month depend on food bank services and programs to provide adequate food for their families, and that number will only increase as we prepare for the winter months and holiday season,” she added.
