Primary Health Network’s Mayonta E. Jefferson Appointed as Honorary Member of PA Advisory Health Board
Sharon, PA – Primary Health Network proudly announces that Mayonta E. Jefferson, PharmD, Pharmacist & Primary Care Medical Home Coordinator, has been appointed by Governor Josh Shapiro as a member of the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Advisory Health Board. This esteemed position underscores her commitment to addressing health disparities and advancing public health initiatives across the state.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Advisory Health Board advises the Secretary of Health on issues related to disease prevention, vital statistics, school health, and cancer regulatory matters. The 12-member board consists of five physicians licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in Pennsylvania, one dentist licensed to practice dentistry in Pennsylvania, one pharmacist registered with the State Board of Pharmacy, one registered nurse licensed by the State Board of Nurse Examiners, one engineer registered with the State Registration Board for Professional Engineers with experience in sanitary engineering, and three others.
Jefferson’s appointment is particularly significant as she is the only pharmacist on the board, bringing a vital perspective to the discussions and decision-making processes.
Jefferson expressed her enthusiasm about the new role, stating, “I am deeply honored to have been appointed by our Governor to serve as a board member on the PA Department of Health's Advisory Health Board.
