Highlights
Restore Riverside Park delivers another amazing free concert experience for the community. Last Monday, The Seven Wonders performed to hundreds at the amphitheater.
Downtown business owners Ken and Vanessa Hillyer and the town came together in a private-public partnership to spruce up 194 Main. The Hillyers and friends donated time and the borough provided the materials. 194 Main is owned by the Town and is open for redevelopment. Ken and Vanessa's small act has gained a lot of attention this week.
We sat down with Ken to ask what inspired him to step in and help. Here is what he shared.
"I’m a Firm believer in God, Family, and country, and over the last couple of years, I felt compelled to add community to that list. I grew up here, and remember what it was like when I was a kid. 10 year old me thought Main Street looked like the Las Vegas strip, it was hopping! Regardless of what it once was, I still love this town. Been all over the world and this is one of the few places left where it’s ok to be God-fearing. It’s ok to have an opinion and I can count on my neighbors to look after my house when I’m gone. That’s not common In the world we live in today. Lately, I’ve heard a lot of frustrations about the borough and township. But it’s not the townships fault we lost our industry in the 90s, it wasn’t their fault we went to war in 03, wasn’t their fault the stock market crashed in 08, and certainly wasn’t the township's fault there was a Covid crisis. We’ve been through a lot in our little town but nothing is dead until it is buried. Time to bring our town back to its potential. 'Faith without works is dead.'"
It is the dedication to improving our town by business owners like Ken and Vanessa Hillyer that serve as a good reminder of why it is important to support and shop local. Thank you both for setting an example of what we can do when we work together!
