The Long Haul continued
The Long Haul continued,
Last month we explored how success doesn't happen overnight and that it takes perseverance. What are some other attributes that foster longevity and sustainability? In no particular order, here are some qualities I've reflected on:
Adaptable: You must pivot when necessary. Is new emerging technology disrupting the market? Is your customer behaving differently? Being able to adapt is crucial in our fast-paced and quickly changing world.
Innovative: Being proactive in business keeps you ahead of your competition. Are there new resources to leverage? Are there better, faster, cheaper ways of doing your thing? If you can continue to innovate in your field, you can create need.
Planning: Whether it is your business plan, strategic plan, or marketing plan, it is about taking the appropriate time to think about where you want to be. Strategize on how you get there, document it, and measure your results so you can continue to make effective decisions.
Passion: Being "all in" on what you are doing sets the tone. It impacts everything from your motivation to how you hire. This is the emotional component of your business success
Some of these bullet points were born out of a lunch conversation with our office tenant Mike Blaurock, a Business Consultant with the SBDC. Check out their the Biz bite podcast with episodes like The Entrepreneurial Mindset and Crafting a Clear Message for Business Growth. What are some other attributes that help with enduring the long haul? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
